Procedure for Handling Misconduct
Allegations:
INTI Journal is committed to upholding
the highest standards of ethical conduct in its publications. We take all
allegations of research and publication misconduct seriously and have
established a clear procedure for addressing such concerns to ensure the
integrity of our published work.
Principles of Publication Ethics:
INTI Journal expects all parties involved
in the publication process – authors, reviewers, and editors – to adhere to
the highest ethical standards. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Originality
and Plagiarism: Submitted work must be original and must
properly cite the work of others. Plagiarism in any form, including
self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.
- Data
Integrity and Fabrication: Authors must ensure the accuracy
and integrity of their research data. Fabrication, falsification, or
manipulation of data is considered serious misconduct.
- Authorship: Authorship
should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to
the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research.
All authors must agree on the final version of the manuscript.
- Conflict of
Interest:
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts
of interest that could bias their judgment or the integrity of the
publication process.
- Confidentiality: Reviewers
and editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted
manuscripts.
- Peer Review
Integrity:
Any attempt to manipulate the peer-review process is considered a
serious ethical violation.
·
Research Funding: Authors are
mandated to declare all sources of funding that supported their research.
Any undisclosed or misrepresented funding that could be perceived as
influencing the research outcomes or interpretations is considered a form
of malpractice and will be handled according to INTI Journal's established
procedures for misconduct.
- Affiliation
of the author(s): Authors are required to accurately and
truthfully state their affiliations at the time the research was
conducted. Any misrepresentation or omission of affiliations that
could be perceived as misleading or intended to conceal potential
conflicts of interest is considered a form of malpractice and will be
addressed according to INTI Journal's procedures for handling
misconduct.
Procedure for Handling Misconduct
Allegations:
INTI Journal follows a rigorous and fair
process for addressing allegations of research or publication misconduct:
- Reporting
Misconduct:
All reports of suspected misconduct should be submitted in writing,
clearly outlining the nature of the concern and providing any
supporting evidence. Reports should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief at
[Insert Editor-in-Chief's Email Address]. While anonymous reports will
be considered, providing contact information can facilitate the investigation
process.
- Initial
Assessment:
Upon receiving a misconduct allegation, the Editor-in-Chief will
conduct an initial assessment to determine if the concern warrants
further investigation. Frivolous or unsubstantiated allegations will
be dismissed.
- Preliminary
Inquiry:
If the initial assessment suggests potential misconduct, the
Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with relevant members of the
Editorial Board, will conduct a preliminary inquiry. This may involve
gathering further information from the reporting party, the accused
party, and relevant institutions.
- Independent
Review:
For all cases deemed to require further investigation, INTI Journal
will seek the opinion of one or more independent experts who have no
prior involvement with the manuscript or the individuals involved.
These reviewers will provide an objective assessment of the
allegations and the evidence.
- Investigation: Based on
the findings of the preliminary inquiry and the independent review, a
formal investigation may be initiated. The scope and nature of the
investigation will depend on the specific allegations. The accused
party will be given an opportunity to respond to the allegations and
provide their perspective.
- Decision and
Actions:
Following a thorough investigation, the Editorial Board will make a
decision regarding the validity of the misconduct allegations. If
misconduct is confirmed, INTI Journal may take one or more of the
following actions:
- Retraction: The
published article may be retracted from the journal. A retraction notice
will be published online and, if applicable, in a subsequent print
issue, clearly stating the reason for the retraction.
- Correction/Erratum: If the
misconduct involves minor errors or misrepresentations that do not
invalidate the main findings of the research, a correction or erratum
may be published.
- Expression
of Concern:
In cases where there is inconclusive evidence of misconduct but
serious concerns remain, an Expression of Concern may be published.
- Notification
to Relevant Institutions: INTI Journal reserves the right to
inform the authors' institution(s) and/or funding agencies of the
findings of the investigation.
- Ban on
Future Submissions: The journal may impose a ban on
future submissions from the individuals involved in the misconduct.
- Right to
Withdraw/Retain: INTI Journal reserves the right to withdraw or
retain a published paper at any time after publication if evidence of
misconduct, errors, or other serious issues that compromise the
integrity of the work are identified. This decision will be made
following a thorough investigation and in accordance with the
procedures outlined above. Authors will be notified of the decision,
although prior notification may not always be feasible in cases
requiring immediate action to protect the integrity of the journal.
INTI Journal is committed to ensuring
fairness and transparency throughout the process of addressing misconduct
allegations. Our aim is to maintain the trust and credibility of our
publications within the academic community.
